2022, what an eventful year it was for me.

This is pretty much a follow-up from this post I made last summer, but also doubling as a year-in-a-review sort of thing.

So, we're pretty much near the end of this year (surprisingly went by pretty quickly for everything that happened), and I just wanted to give another update on stuff going on back at home.

Some great news first, my mom's been finished with her treatments for her sickness since October, as I mentioned in that post, and it was eventually confirmed last month that she was in remission. I personally didn't want to say what it was that she was being treated for, but since it's finally done, I guess I can say what it was, she was diagnosed with cancer back in April, or March, can't remember which month, but it was absolutely devastating when I first found out about it. Thankfully, we caught it early and had it treated right away. It was a harsh several months for her, with the chemotherapy and the radiation treatment, but now she's completely cancer-free!

I wanted to talk about this earlier, but I was still trying to get through my difficult earth science class, and although I was on break when I heard the news, I was still pretty exhausted from the exam I took prior to thanksgiving break, but I'm just thankful that she's still around for me, she can live to see another day, I'm just so happy for her, especially after everything she went through, and I love her so much.

As for me though, I'm still kinda hanging in there, surprisingly I’m almost done with my community college, but this semester that just passed was pretty stressful, and the situation with my mom going through the treatments, combined with the expenses of college classes sort of took a financial hit on us, since my dad had to take off days of work to take care of her, mom couldn't work anymore since she was sick and getting treated.

Because of all that, I've been considering trying out commissions if I'm not super busy with college to hopefully help me and my family out, but I dunno, I need to find a good time for it, especially with balancing the coursework of college and all the other stuff life slings at me. But, what do you guys think of me doing commissions at some point? Should I try it out for a bit? Please let me know below in the comments, thanks.

One more thing, and this one hits really hard for me, but a few weeks ago, as I was finishing up my last few weeks of my semester, I found out my grandpa from my dad’s side unfortunately just passed away. Hearing the news, as I was going through my last few weeks of my semester, really hurt for me and my dad, because now I’ve lost both of my grandparents on his side. We’re okay now though, just the week I found out about it was devastating. I'll miss him so much.

And that's pretty much all I have right now, for real life stuff at home, we went through a lot this year, I hope next year's not as bad, maybe the year of healing.

Meanwhile, not sure if this exactly counts as a holiday thing, but I finally got to upload that old photography project I did a couple years ago. I figured since it’s been two years since I made it, and it was taken during the holidays, I thought I’d just finally post it now.

I also made a music track too, in between working on my earth science stuff, but that’s gonna come a bit later.

Sorry if my posts have been very scattered this year, it's just been a stressful year so far, with college, my mom’s condition and stuff, but I'm still holding out, in fact I feel like my mental well-being has gotten a bit better since that post, just finally expressing everything going on and such, plus I made some amends with some former mutuals in the past, which definitely helped my self-esteem a bit, at least knowing that there's no hard feelings and they're doing better. Still not sure when I'll be back to posting on Instagram, if I should fully return to posting on Instagram either (considering my bias against facebook, or whatever they're calling themselves now, and social media's falling apart at the seams at this point with Elon and Twitter...), also sorry if this post came off a bit sappy and depressing, but I really needed to get this out.

Hopefully next year might be better, and thanks for the support and feedback on my recent stuff, I really appreciate it!

That's pretty much what I have for now, Christmas is coming at an approximate 999mph, so it's REALLY close, and it's freezing out there, so bundle up, sip on some hot cocoa, and spend some time with your friends and family.

hi! couple things today

i just finished up this "director's cut" of that flipnote i put up on sudomemo! basically, i just put in stuff that i couldn't add into the DSi version due to memory limitations, using flash to splice in the frames with the extra effects

can't really put this up here because of the usual copyright stuff, so i put it up on my youtube. enjoy!

also, i've officially hit my 21st birthday, and now i can legally drink like a MAN

Hi, I know it’s been a good while since I posted anything online, really. Dunno if anyone’s going to read this through and through, but I think it’s time to break the silence.

The reason why I haven’t posted much here, has to do with life. There were several events that happened last year that kind of mentally strained me. I went through a very difficult college class that kinda destroyed my sanity for a while, I ended up getting appendicitis over last Summer’s break, and I had to go to the hospital for surgery on that area, I caught COVID-19 before Winter Break after finishing my Fall semester when my sister caught it from school, my old computer completely gave up, so we had to go out and get a new computer, and I had to manually take out the hard drive from my old computer to transfer the files through an external I bought to transfer over to the new computer. And now, currently there’s been a health emergency with my mom that we’ve been taking care of, hoping she pulls through.

And then, I’ve been kind of burnt out from social media and the internet as a whole, as it’s been getting harder and harder to keep up with everything and post consistently while balancing the work from college, and just life in general. Plus, the whole talk about NFTs and stuff online had been getting on my nerves, and it’s been stressing me out. I don't want to go any further on that topic though. So, I kinda decided to just take a lowkey break. I didn’t really announce it though, I didn’t want to be the guy that went, “hey im gonna take a break from social media byyyyyye” and then come back a week later to jump back into posting whatever small doodle I spat onto my sketchbook, not fully recovered. However, I probably should’ve said something first before I went blank for several months, probably a bit irresponsible on my part, and I apologize, I was just tired, and I just couldn’t bring myself to post a status update at that moment. Especially just hot off of making a new years’ post and being like "OOH HOPEFULLY I'LL DO SOMETHING THIS YEAR!!". 

In addition, I wasn't feeling as confident about my animation/art skills as I used to be, prior to taking the break, so I was kind of having a bit of an identity crisis.

Also, regarding Nutty, the squirrel cartoon I was working on for a long time? Not sure if anyone was still keeping up with that project, and I didn’t really want to say anything, but during the 2020’s, I had to quietly, indefinitely postpone the project, because I’ve been tied up with college, and I was a bit depressed during the first couple of years during lockdown. The movement towards online classes didn’t help either. Not to sound melodramatic or anything, but I felt trapped, isolated, almost no one to talk to with how distant classes are right now. I’m sure NOBODY planned for us all to completely move towards stay-at-home activities amidst the COVID-19 virus, but I think it affected me the most, personally, especially since I was just starting with my first couple of years at college, and kinda missed out on that social aspect of it, and then suddenly I have to adjust to this completely new format that I wasn't used to. I still want to work on it again, though. I just don’t want to make it overly public with premature trailers and announcements as I’ve done in the past, I just want to go at my own pace when working on it. So I assure you, it’s not totally canceled.

But anyways, that’s pretty much what’s been going on while I was away, just wanted to let off some steam and heavy baggage here.

Sorry if I got a bit personal there, these COVID times are pretty rough, but I’m okay.

I did just finish an animation class this semester for college, but I kinda want to polish them up before I post my work. I also finished this little Flipnote animation that I spent a few months working on as a small side thing, if you want, you can check it out here:

Update 12-25-21

so here's what's been going on lately, my sister came down with COVID due to how overly packed her school was, so she had to stay in her room for 10 days. then I started to catch it, and i was diagnosed with it earlier this week

it wasn't a good feeling to have it, had headaches, sore throats, runny noses, fun stuff

but thankfully i'm making a good recovery, had some tea and medicine to help me out, i'm okay, feeling much better now than i was on wednesday, or the days before that

i did also have some time to make this while i recovered in my room:

i may be sick, and my main computer may still be broken, but still, i'd like to spread a little holiday cheer!

Update 12-05-21

Hello, sorry for not really posting much lately. (and kinda being slow with the updates and news, too)

I've been busy trying to balance school and working on an animated short I've been entirely focused on since Summer, the short about a kiwi and a wild stoat (which was about 75% done so far)

Unfortunately, I've got some bad news...

Last week my computer suddenly started to slow down to a crawl, almost barely usable, and it was getting frustrating. So I was trying to back everything up to an external hard drive I bought, so I can have everything backed up and completely wipe the computer.

Well... that was easier said than done.

I ran into a bunch of problems. The music folder took over two days to transfer over to the drive, there were four pop-ups telling me that Firefox crashed (even though firefox wasn't even open at all during the process) and then when I tried to remove the hard drive so I can reboot the computer and continue backing the rest of the files up, it gave me a message box that said "Unknown hard error".

After that, the laptop became unresponsive, so I went ahead and forced a shutdown on it. The external hard drive is still intact, but the laptop went into repair mode when I turned it on.

I sent it to my dad's friend who's pretty good with computers, so he can check it out.

It turns out that the OS became corrupted, which is hella scary ngl but hopefully he's able to find a bootable OS disc to regain access to the files and back the rest of them up.

fingers crossed...
